VOLLEYBALL: Rams open season with win

West_Valley_Ram_enhancedKENNEWICK — Picking up where they left off last season, the West Valley Rams opened their volleyball season Tuesday night with a 3-0 CBBN 3A triumph over Southridge on the Suns’ court.

West Valley, which went unbeaten in league play and later won the district championship before finishing third in the Class 3A state tournament, won 25-7, 25-14, 25-16.

Morgan McDowell totaled 14 kills and six aces to power the Rams while Linnea Phillips collected 20 digs.

EASTMONT 3, SUNNYSIDE 1: At Eastmont, the Wildcats prevailed 24-26, 25-17, 25-19, 25-10. No other details were reported.

RICHLAND 3, EISENHOWER 0: At Eisenhower, Brooke Brown amassed eight kills, 10 digs and three aces in the Cadets’ 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 loss.

Eisenhower highlights: Brooke Brown 8 kills 10 digs, 3 aces; Shelby Hein 3 kills 4 digs; Tierney Rivera 2 aces; Sh-Para Manzano 8 assists.

WENATCHEE 3, DAVIS 0: At Davis, M’Kiela Rosales had three kills and Maria Nunez totaled four aces and four digs for the Pirates in their 25-14, 25-11, 25-13 setback.
