END OF AN ERA!!!

END OF AN ERA!!!

The February 11th victory over the Sunnyside Grizzlies marks the final regular season home game in the over 40 year coaching career of Eli Juarez. The Davis community thanks Coach Juarez for all of the time an effort he has put into Davis High School for the last 19 years. After his playing days at Wapato HS and Whitman College he stayed spent 2 years as an assistant at Whitman. He then became a high school head coach starting at Dayton for two years before moving to the Big 9 and Wenatchee HS for 16 years. After that, he spent 2 years at Wapato before coming to the Pirate ship and leading our boys basketball program. In his career, Coach Juarez has amassed 521 wins (and counting) as a head coach with the biggest win being on March 3, 2012 when he led the Pirates to the 4A State Championship. In 2021, Coach Juarez was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Most importantly, his wife Brenda has been with him the whole way and they raised a wonderful family! Eli’s late father imparted the following wisdom upon him that he continues to live by… “BE BETTER THAN I AM AND ALWAYS… NEVER SETTLE FOR NOTHING LESS THAN EXCELLENCE!” Thank you Coach Juarez!
